Holiday wishes meme, a bit close to the wire.

STEP ONE
# Make a post to your LJ. The post should contain your list of ten holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related to medium to really big. The important thing is to make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
# If you wish for real life things, make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) can get in touch with you. Your home address is not required!
# Make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO
# Surf around your friends list to see who has posted their list. And now, here's the important part...
# If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true.
# You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf - to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not - it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just... wish, and it might come true. Give and you might receive. You'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. This is my number-one request and also the absolute simplest. It doesn't take much and it's like you're giving me money when you do it, except it doesn't cost you money. (Although I won't complain if you want to give me money. XD)
I write articles for Associated Content online. For some articles, I get $2 for the article, for some, they just get put up. For every thousand views on any of my articles, I get $1.50. It's not much. But it's bringing something in until I can get a real job.
Follow this link to my profile and click on my articles. You don't have to read any of them. Just click on one. Click on each of them once. Click on each twice. Ten times. If you really want to do a poor girl a favor, spread it to your friends you think would like it, or put it on your daily sites to visit and click on each article once a day. It doesn't take long, doesn't take much effort, and it would be immensely helpful.

2. A paid account, especially with extra icon space, would be really nice. Mostly for my own journal, though I wouldn't mind it for a handful of my pup journals, either. (Mainly isitthesmile, morethanarookie, morethangifted, seeonlyagame, everaqueen, moldedoffaults, seeherrise, or verysmalltown -- I know I can find the icons for them to fill the spaces, and it might <s>guilt</s> encourage me into using them more, which I'd like to. ...Or, y'know, if you want to <s>guilt</s> encourage me into using someone more, you can do it for someone else. XD)

3. Books: I have no nice neat booklist, but there are a few specific things I want. Besides those things, I'm fairly open to try new literature, so feel free to send anything except horror, really, as I have a fairly low threshold with horror.
*The Dresden Files: We have book one. I've read books -- I think it's six and nine, Dead Beat and White Night. I will take any books in this series. I'm dying to read more.
*Discworld: I have Soul Music, Wyrd Sisters, Jingo, and Feet of Clay. I adore Vetinari, I adore Vimes, I adore Carrot and Angua; I'd be especially pleased with any of the Watch books. I love Death and Susan, and could probably enjoy anything with them as a main focus. I've never tried an Unseen Academy centric book and I'm back-and-forth on the Witches (I haven't gotten through much of Wyrd Sisters and I couldn't finish Carpe Jugular when I got it from the library).
*Dragonlance: I have the proper trilogy, the Soulforge, and Brothers in Arms. I'd really love a copy of the Second Generation, and Summer Flame wouldn't go amiss either. Otherwise I haven't tried any of the spinoff series. I love Tas, I love Sturm, I love Caramon; I adore the character combinations of Flint and Tas, Flint and Tanis, Flint and Caramon, Sturm and Caramon, Sturm and Raistlin, Sturm and Tanis, Sturm and Kitiara, and Tanis and Raistlin. I also quite enjoy the second generation Majere brothers and Steel Brightblade.
*Any Neil Gaiman. Technically, I think Nina has copies of most of his books, but besides Fragile Things, they're all either marked up or been loaned out to Nina's family and not come back yet. I'd love second copies to keep hold of.
*No Plot? No Problem! I've no idea whatever happened to my copy.

4. DVDs. I'm a little pickier with DVDs but mostly willing to try anything, so again, all but horror is welcome. Specific things are mostly series, because I can't think of many movies I want and don't have.
*Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band.
*The Other Boleyn Girl.
*Mamma Mia!
*If you know of any movies with one of my PBs in it, I'm generally very open to those.
*Old movie musicals. Frank Sinatra, Gene Kelley, Fred Astaire -- THOSE movie musicals.
*Pushing Daises.
*Burn Notice: Season 2.
*Life on Mars (UK).
*Doctor Who (classic, new, anything really, we have none of it).
*Reaper.
*The Black Donnellys.
*Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip.
*Legend of the Seeker.
*Heroes: Season One.
*How I Met Your Mother.
*The Big Bang Theory.
*Psych.
*Dollhouse.
*The Golden Girls.
*Fraiser: Anything but season one.
*Will and Grace.
*Early seasons of Scrubs, except season one.
*Cheers.
*Castle.

5. Good reference books or websites for writing. I don't mean dry textbook type things; I'll take For Dummies and Complete Idiot's Guides to things, and I'll take personal experience books above dry textbooks. And I don't mean on aspects of writing, though I'd like good writing books that are exercise-based.
I'd like good, well-written, interesting reference books on these areas: any and all mental illnesses and developmental diseases, physical illnesses, the law, sex, cultures, countries (geography and culture), states (geography and culture), cities (geography and culture), religions, weapons, careers, crime or time periods. I'll take any country for all areas mentioned as well.

6. Gift cards. Especially to Target, Walmart, places like that. A little extra to help get through the month is always welcome.

7. If anyone happens to have an old, old Nintendo and controller lying around -- really old, this old clunker -- with games, and they don't want that anymore? I would really love one. Especially if it came with Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt (with the gun). I miss my parent's old one.

8. A new layout would be quite lovely -- I keep meaning to change mine, I just can't find one I like. Either being directed towards a comm with good layouts or made one personally. I like headers, but don't find them necessary, and would prefer a layout that came with a matching profile layout or banner for one. Fandoms I wouldn't mind having a layout of: Firefly (anyone), Burn Notice (anyone), New Who (Donna, Jack, the TARDIS), Eastwick (anyone), Chess (anyone), Dollhouse (Adelle, Victor, Ballard, Boyd), Sports Night (anyone), and generics: writing, books, streets, snow, pretty things.
I also wouldn't mind layout of or for any of my characters you care to make or can find that's fitting. I can probably provide specifics for anyone you care to ask about if you're really interested, I just feel I should cut down the babble. XD

9. I would not mind icons for myself, of -- really, anything mentioned above, any fandoms I mention, anything on my interests lists.... An icon made for me would make me smile.
I'll also take base icons or posts of base icons for my characters, especially a handful of them I'm having difficulty finding good icons of: morethangifted (River Tam, PB Summer Glau, who I am mostly guilty of not looking hard enough for), theressecrets (The Master/Simon Tam [don't ask], PB Sean Maher), <img src='http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/userinfo.gif' alt='[info]' width='17' height='17' style='vertical-align: bottom; I'm sure there's others but I can't think of them.

10. Letters. Handwritten, email, I don't care which. I would love letters from people, postcards from people... anything, long or short, anything! (I'll also take character letters -- whether from a character to me, from you to one of my characters, or from a character to one of mine.)

And in general, I want good things for everyone, but really? I don't think anyone can make that come true.

I feel weird posting something so long but I don't expect all or even most of my list, especially since so much of it costs but I figure it's worth a shot, right? If you need my address or want to contact me privately, my email is socriedthestars@gmail.com. Because I mention characters so much, abbreviated list here, full list that actually needs some alterations but exists here. Thank you so SO much in advance if you offer anything or even just read that all. XD

Happy Halloween, blessed Samhain, good luck NaNoers, and a bonus meme.

It is 1:30 on Halloween. I am fed and sugared and still vaguely costumed in my throw-together eyesore costume. The apartment's outside is very decorated, the inside is slightly so, and Rocky Horror is playing. NaNo has started, daylight savings springs back tonight and I'm not sure if it did already or is in an hour, and I don't care. Very few kids came by, but I can't quite care about that anymore either, bummer as it was earlier.

It is... not a terrible first Halloween away from home by any means.

And here! Have a meme! Because I'm pretty much just going to do short stories and snippets for NaNo and memes totally count, right? >>

Give me a character and I'll tell you how they spent their Halloween and, if they dressed up, what they dressed up as.

Alternatively, just plain prompts are welcome too.

Actually, I want the Inn right this moment, dammit, if only because I just spent a break reading old threads. Only with the ability to throw anyone I want in. But anyway.

Also, I seem to be stuck on Chess and Jekyll and Hyde for the past five hours or so.
I have a terribly unhealthy but oh so satisfying pan full of french fries to munch, fun and pretty music, and a burning desire to do... something. Don't know what. Vaguely feel like RP or writing but I can't seem to get the brain flowing or stay at the comp long enough to actually do anything proselike and proper, and I'm not terribly in the mood for things that are not. Bah. Silly brain. Be nice.

And on a similar but not the same topic, have a writing prompts request. Because oh god, it's October and it's almost midOctober and NaNo is coming up and I have not actually written in what must be months now because it's been at least since I got here, and I need to get back into, you know, DOING THAT.

So.

Five things requests, please?
I keep meaning to make a this-is-my-life-now update and not doing it.

You get that now.

So as most people probably cottoned on to, I moved out of my parent's house in the start of September. The night of August 31st actually, but let's not be picky. I am in the apartment with Nina now (who, for those who don't know this, is my girlfriend, and is theformofstars, and is wonderful). I am looking for a job and it is not going wonderfully, but we can handle our monthly finances till I get one, thank god.

As of the day before yesterday, we have kittens. We had a cat -- well, she had a cat, a large black cat -- and now we have two kittens. Coloringwise I think they're tabbies but I might be using that word wrong.

I have watched every episode of Sports Night a ridiculous amount of times since I got here, except the last disk, which gets put on rarely because, well, it's depressing. I've started watching Sling and Arrows as of yesterday. We have a Beatles poster over our bed and a Frank Sinatra posted over our chair and large sheets of paper to write on over the couch and the bed and more to be put up eventually. I built a bookshelf with a silver hammer we borrowed from a neighbor and moved in with help from an upstairs neighbor for that matter. I'm getting used to the geography of our local shopping complexes and how to get to them. My boxes are not yet entirely unpacked but I'm hoping to work on that today now that I have a bookshelf.

It still feels a little like a dream but the "I'm really here and we have an apartment" moments are more often than not now. I really have nothing else to say, I really had no need to say half these things, but I'm tired and I'm just typing at this point. These are all, despite my out of it-ness, good things. I am here and I am glad it's finally happened.

I am achy, and sleepy, and out of it, and all in all somewhat mushy, and this is not a grand thing but not a terrible thing either, it is just a thing. That is not the point of this post but probably explains why I feel the need to make it better than any babbling could. So.

It occurs to me that coming home to love is always a good thing, so I would like the world to know three things.

The first: I love my girlfriend. I love being with her. I love being near her. I love talking to her, hanging out with her, geeking out with her, just plain existing with her. I love that I get to be near her every day. I love and am lucky for the fact that she is a part of my life.

The second: I love my Sarah. I love talking to her. I love squeeing with her. I love the idea that someday I will meet her, for goddammit, it will happen. I love knowing I can go to her if I need her and I like to think she knows she can come to me. I love and am lucky for the fact that she is part of my life.

The third: I love my Nora. I love talking to her. I love hanging out with her. I love the fact that it's been years and we're still so close. I love that someday I will meet her because yes, that'll happen too. I love knowing I can call her my sister and knowing she calls me hers. I love and am lucky for the fact that she is part of my life.

And now I am done.

(I also want to state I love my Beth, but I am not going into that for one simple fact: she never checks LJ.)

Oh god, home. I'm going home. Granted, I have to come back here to pack and I'm not going to be there for good until next weekend.
Things Nina and I have done or had happen since I arrived here twenty-five hours ago:
*Ham and pineapple pizza MMMMM.
*Playing with the Arbiter and lists outside the milkshake place.
*MILKSHAKE. MMMM.
*Chinese food. Mmmm.
*Sports Night. Yaaaay.
*Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog. Repeatedly.
*Commentary! The Musical. Repeatedly.
*EPIC FUCKING EASTER EGG HUNTS on Dr Horrible.
*ELE applications.
*Listened to the zombie ELE application so much it's driven into our fucking heads.
*Realized the puppet is a creepier bastard than anything else on this DVD.
*Made a kink list, for use in discovering things about pups.
*Listening to Repo! The Genetic Opera, mocking it and not paying much attention (or... watching. Horror, I am bad with it. But listening to it at five am is fucking hysterical.)
*Played chess and checkers to Repo. Well, I did.
*Found things with a pup's PB in it. Watched. Mocked like fuck. Practically asexual soldier boy in a lot of movies where he plays a love interest and takes his shirt off a lot, and one where he's a mob prince
*Gone down that pup's PB's list of movies and found out he plays in other movies a saint, a reverend, and a tango dancing singer who falls for a prostitute.
*Gone down a different pup's PB's list of movies. Found out David Tennant's been in a lot of theater roles that make us smile.
*Watched bits of floppy-haired ickle nineties David Tennant playing a bipolar boy in an asylum.
*Decided John Smith is a supervillian.
*Played with... not even old pups! Random alterego things that cropped up in an early conversation! Back in November! Mmm, fail supervillian and morally grey antihero thingy.
*Sat outside the front door singing along to Dr Horrible on the other side of the door at three in the morning.
*Poked character's sexual habits.
*Were treated to epic fucking hypothetical mythology of hypothetical worlds. Universes. Multiverses. There were invisible highly evolved dogs with a fleet of TARDISes. And they worshipped highly evolved limes and then abandoned them. Said soldier boy from earlier became various mythological characters including Jesus, Adam and the male version of Athena, all because he wouldn't sing or dance. And then the universe ended up in a honey jar that broke and the ants ate the people and the ants got stepped on and the universe died. And somewhere there were spoons. And... we're still not sure what happened. I just know that Koschei is Jesus, and they are being chased by highly evolved dogs who want to kill them repeatedly and make them deities and worship and the limes are not pleased by this, but we're transporting highly evolved lemons to try to cheer them up. ...And Theta is insanely imaginative. But oddly morbid.
*Tea is sane.
*Nina's voice can't pick one accent.

...I love my life.
